Introduction

This is such an inspiring challenge! I take my hat off to Mal and hope that he receives fantastic support to a great feat for a great cause! My father died of Multiple Myeloma in 2000 and his good friend died of Lymphoma two years ago. It is still saddening to remember what they both went through and what we, as family members, went through while trying to support them in their last months with us. I hope that my small effort goes a long way to helping those affected by Leukaemia and other blood related illnesses. I have always loved running, though not competitively, and will join Mal on two runs - one for Dad and one for Geoff - in a hope to raising $2,000 along the way. It seems fitting that Dads 10year anniversary is 25 November this year, days before the Day One run. Please support me in this awesome challenge!

Dedication

My father, Jack Bakani, died in 2000 from Multiple Myeloma. Dad was a very quiet man and my own lack of awareness seemed to make the journey even shorter. Dad died some six months after being diagnosed. Seeing Dads body deterorate to skin on bones was awful. I can clearly remember the day Dad died, in that while we were waiting for the fateful hour, Dad raised his arm stump (he lost his left arm in a work accident in the late 70's)in what we call his wave goodbye. Geoff Grubb, a workmate and good friend of Dad's died of Lymphoma two years ago. To Dad and Geoff, my lungs are on the line guys but this is for you!
