The key to being successful in running a half marathon is NOT to do all the training and get really fit and then break your leg!!

Well, I've just returned home to NZ from a trip to the US, and this means it's time to start proper training!
A huge thanks to the people above for donating to the cause, I really appreciate your support. I'll keep you updated along the way with how the training is going, and by all means, pass the url:

onto your friends and family, or post a note on your Facebook page, or shout it from the roof tops!
Good on ya!
Steve
Ok, well, less than a week to go until the big day! Just got back from tramping the Greenstone/Caples, so now it's time for a final few runs. Any final donations would be great! Check out my blog: http://www.aspiringadventures.com/english/blog.php or read the article in this weeks' Taieri Herald about the race. Many thanks in advance!
Wow - I have such an awesome bunch of friends and family!!
Jean, Riccardo, Kat, Mum and Dad, Chanelle, Amand and Susan, Tom and Kel, Russ, Katie, anon, Robyn and Fish - thank you for your kind generosity!
With two days to go, I'm now only $75 away from reaching the base target of $400 - woop woop :) Now, to find a few more people willing to part with a few dollars.....
Big run yesterday as my final lead-up, and feeling good today, so I'm looking forward to meeting Mal and the other crazy buggers running on Sunday!
A huge pre-thank you to Jo and Dean who have invited Kat and I to stay with them on Saturday night - looking forward to seeing you both tomorrow!!
So, Sunday was Day One of the 7in7 Challenge, the “Twin Lakes” marathon from Lake Hawea to Glendu Bay on the west side of Lake Wanaka. It was gruellingly hot (according to TV1 that night, Wanaka posted the national high for the day of 32 degrees!). Kat and I crossed the line at 1:20pm and quickly jumped into the lake to cool off!
Malcolm, the organiser and main runner of the whole charity event has now completed 5 huge runs in 5 consecutive days, including the Twin Lakes (42.2km), Young-Wilkin circuit (55km), Motatapu Gold (49km), Wakatipu Wonderland (38km) and Rees-Dart Circuit (67km). Today he’ll run the Greenstone-Mavora track (52km), and tomorrow the big finale – the Kepler Challenge (60km)! Phew!
The total fundraising efforts have now reached over $145,000 – only $5,000 away from the target – amazing really! And again, every cent raised goes straight to the Leukaemia and Blood Foundation of New Zealand. There was a charity auction on Saturday afternoon with Marc Ellis as the guest auctioneer, which raised over $10,000 of the total amount. A lot of fun!
So, again, thank you to all my lovely sponsors, and a huge thank you to Kat for being my running partner, and to Jo and Dean for the bed and running around after me when I left my socks behind and was considering running in jandals!
If you're reading this, you can still add your donation - it's NOT too late!
